Volunteer

For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve...

Mark 10:45

Volunteering is one of the key indicators of a life lived reflecting Christian values. It is also one of the key indicators that someone is taking their discipleship with Jesus seriously.
At Hobart City Church of Christ we strongly encourage everyone to be serving somewhere in some capacity.
Determine your gifts, your skills, your passion - and then seek to serve.

Serve the community via the church

Use your unique gifts to help build the Kingdom.

Within the life of Hobart City Church of Christ there exists multiple opportunities for you to serve. While we recommend you take your time settling into the Hobart City Church community before you begin serving, if you can't wait to serve the Lord in some capacity - then we will find you a role.

Volunteer FAQ

How do I volunteer?

Use the form below to contact the Church Office, or speak to one of the Ministry Staff where you'll then be referred to the ministry leader. Before you volunteer, a conversation will be had with you to determine the best place for you to exercise your gifts and your sense of call. Depending on the service area, you may be required to have attended Sunday services on a regular basis, obtain a Working With Vulnerable People Card (WWVP - Tasmanian Government) or a National Police Check before you start.

How do I volunteer with kids?

Firstly, you'll need to have an interest, a passion and the skills for relating well with children. Then, after you have been attending Sunday worship on a regular basis, we'll connect you with Casey - Children's Ministry Coordinator - who will walk you through the application process, including gaining a WWVP card, Safe Church training and introducing you to the curriculum.  If you love kids, but don't really have the skills or time for working with them - then there are behind the scene opportunities as well - such as setup, pack up, sign in, welcome and prayer.

How do I volunteer with worship?

Use the form below to contact the Church Office, or look out for our Worship Pastor Phil  on Sunday mornings to talk about how you'd like to serve. We are always on the lookout for musicians, singers, and people with some technical ability (sound mixing, stage lighting, or data projection) to expand the team and share the ministry.  If you join the team for platform ministry (music or song) you will be required to audition.
Training is available if you would like to learn any of the non-stage related tasks.

How do I volunteer with Thread Together?

Head over to the Thread Together page (see above) and use the contact form there to get the ball rolling.
You will need to obtain a valid WWVP card to volunteer in this space. Depending on whether you would like to interact with clients, or volunteer behind the scenes - will determine the training requirements.
